Aaron Dobos is an independent music producer, mixer and engineer based in Melbourne.
Starting in 2010, Aaron cut his teeth at Melbourne’s renowned Sing Sing Studios. There he helped produce music by The Avalanches, Spiderbait, Kimbra, Amanda Palmer and more. Aaron also worked with producers such as Grammy-winner John Congleton, five-time ARIA winner Paul McKercher, and award-winning composer Franc Tetaz.
Aaron soon moved to engineering and producing in his own right. He has worked with everyone from local indie acts like Self Talk, Apes and Swim Season to Aussie mainstays like British India, Kram, and Ceres, as well as doing regular work for TV shows, notably The X Factor.
In 2016 Aaron began renting a studio at Sing Sing and won the prestigious Unified Grant, which allowed him to create his own purpose-built studio at Fallback Studios in Ascot Vale.
“I don’t work to any preconceived ideas of what a song should sound like, as long as in the end it can convey the emotion and idea that it was meant to.”
As a Producer my aim is to make the song the best it can be while staying true to the artists vision. This means I dont work to any preconceived ideas of what a song should be or sound like as long as in the end it can convey the emotion and idea that it was meant to.
My Engineering and Mixing inform how I Produce as well. I like to use the sonics to capture and change the feeling of a song, whether that be simply a different guitar sound or completely tweaking a drum kit or vocal and running it through a bunch of pedals or a boom box.
